Introduction
Who may use this program?
A language learner, especially a foreign language learner who may like to learn regularly and systematically on computer.
RWD is designed on the basis of command line mode. The command line version of RWD can be used on both GNU/Linux and MS Windows. The GUI version is available only on MS Windows so far.
How can RWD be useful?
When a person learning a new language or even his/her first language, he/she might need collect new words. And RWD will help him/her to do so on computer so that the learning can be more effective accurate and well-organized.
RWD doesn't aim to increase a person's interest of learning language. RWD aims to help a person who is eager to learn but seeking for an efficient way.
About learning vocabulary
For most people, it's quite difficult to learn a second language without the environment of using that language.
The biggest difficulty is to learn vocabulary. Without intensive practice, it will be very common that a learner forgets words which he/she learnt a few days or weeks ago.
A learner must make many efforts to practise. A very common job to achieve so is to save what has been learned and review them regularly.
It is a big subject that to learn a language or even just the vocabulory of a language. To learn a word in a professional and acadamic way, a learner must try to learn everything related to the word, including spelling, pronunciation, meanings, origin, emotion and so on. It's always difficult and important to try to learn a new word thoroughly and completely.
Here some tips to work with RWD.
- Collect new words with RWD, have a schedule to browse and review them by using 'browse' 'show' and 'next'/'previous' commands.
- Use 'show' command with different '--level' option to help recalling a word.
- Use 'state -s true' to reverse source and destination language(the first and second language of learner in most cases) when using 'show'.
- Use 'auto -l' to help editting word automatically and use 'voice -w' to learn how to pronounce the word.
